Josh Penchina is a nonfiction producer, writer, and editor who transforms raw subjects and unscripted moments into smart, authentic visual narratives for discerning audiences and brands.
He cut his teeth in journalism producing for the documentary units of ABC and NBC News, and collaborating with Peabody-winning producer Helen Whitney (PBS Frontline) and acclaimed director Amir Bar-Lev (The Tillman Story).
In the 15+ years since, Josh has developed and produced over 100 hours of premium, journalistically-rigorous content across investigative, cultural, and public-interest topics for platforms including Hulu, VICE, HBO Max, A+E, and Wired.com.
The son of an award-winning advertising creative, Josh has long appreciated the power of smart branding to solve business problems. But it was only after his wife’s fashion brand faced its own marketing challenges that Josh applied his documentary craft to brand content. Today, this approach has proven both effective (especially for his wife!) and creatively rewarding, propelling Josh to expand his practice further into social-first content and brand stories.
When not producing from an ER bed, or buried in an edit, Josh is likely reminiscing about his once storied improv comedy career or rediscovering childlike wonder with his two insane —and insanely cute — toddlers. And dog. And wife. Not necessarily in that order… x
